Ok so first I have a question; I'm "rebranding" myself; does anyone know if it's possible to change the title of my blog and keep all the posts? I want to change the title to "Lights - Camera - Kristen!"
Augh so much to write and so little time; I'm exhausted from working at Digital Pictures this week, (that's where I'm getting the whole "rebranding" thing from, they are rebranding from The Lab to Digital Pictures.)
I know that it can be a risky area blogging about the work place but it's so inspiring to me being there and everyone is so wonderful I'm hoping I don't get myself in any trouble since I only have positive things to say. I'm just doing some work filling in for someone at reception and then some casual marketing work for a couple weeks, but I would love it to turn into something more.
So things have been busy; I've been working extra hours trying to get the hang of everything and understand and do everything well and then doing my Tafta marketing work at night; I organized a campaign airing on Nova this week that John voiced and I've been organizing and booking the group flights for the LA trip and trying to get our advertising going with Showcast again, and I want to get google analytics or some kind of tracking system going to monitor the website traffic and usage before the ad stops running.
I was supposed to be at a friend's birthday party right now but sadly I'm a bit run down and sick, and I have a workshop tomorrow morning with the casting director of Neighbours and then I'm teaching my girls for cheerleading and then I'm filming some scenes with Tony to make up for what I'm missing of my full time course while working and then there's another birthday party, (there was actually another meeting in there between shooting the scenes and the birthday party but it got cancelled,) and then Sunday is audition and dance class. Augh I have to call the dance studio and book in for a different class and work out volunteering with the Australian Museum around my classes....hmmm maybe getting an idea why I'm getting sick....I'm sad to miss the party (and I'm sorry Jordy!) but I don't think I would have made it through the weekend if I went.
So I am actually going to go now and work on my lines and my Australian accent for tomorrow. Yikes; wish me luck! I'll be doing it tomorrow and for my audition Sunday, and I possibly have a feature shooting up in the central coast also partially dependent on my Australian accent, which is definitely getting there but is still far from perfect.
OK I really have to get ready for tomorrow and get to bed ASAP though; it's super past my bedtime, especially since I don't have my bag packed for tomorrow and I want to find some new scenes to work on!
Oh by the way though, I do have to mention it was interesting this week at work as there was a casting being on the OTHER side of the table and being the person that the actors check in with and everything! And then there were kids auditioning and so the moms (I mean "mums") ;) brought them in will all of their siblings and it was just INSANE, especially when they started playing with the fuse ball table and getting competitive in reception! The girl I'm covering was training me before she left and helping with the casting, and I got to see her calling the agencies and then the agencies sending the headshots through to her to pass onto the producers, the producers choosing who they wanted to see, the back and forth with if they are available and times, one agent trying to get an actor in who wasn't requested by the producers, etc. That was so valuable to not just hear about it but see it firsthand!
Interesting though, when one of the actors auditioning for a dad recognized me from a workshop we had done together with some students at a film school here in Sydney. I thought I remembered him but I couldn't place him, and he knows me right away and starts talking and says "I smelled your hair!" in a rather loud and somewhat creepy manner in the middle of my new workplace where people don't know that I'm an actress and it's my second day.... Oh yes, the oddities of being an actress follow you wherever you go, no matter which side of the table you are sitting on! :)
